The 91大神 and Women鈥檚 Hospital (BWH) Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) is committed to bringing the same level of high-risk pregnancy care available at our main hospital to community hospitals north and west of Boston. The MFM specialists who practice at our main hospital also practice at Mass General 91大神 Healthcare Center (22 Patriot Place, Foxborough) in Foxborough, MA; in Exeter, NH; and in Newton, MA. These collaborations enable patients to receive expert high-risk pregnancy care close to home.
Services offered at our community locations include:
- Maternal-fetal medicine (high-risk pregnancy) specialist consultation and ultrasound evaluation for medical or obstetrical issues;
- Level 2 ultrasound to evaluate a baby鈥檚 anatomy;
- Amniocentesis, a procedure that screens amniotic fluid for chromosome abnormalities;
- Genetic counseling;
- First trimester screening for potential genetic and anatomic defects, including ultrasound and fetal DNA blood testing.
We work closely with a patient鈥檚 primary obstetrician to coordinate care, including the development of a treatment plan. In most cases, our MFM specialists can address a patient鈥檚 high-risk pregnancy needs at the community hospital and then transition their care back to the primary obstetrician. In certain high-risk cases, however, we may recommend that patients continue care at our main campus in Boston.
